Arthroscopy is a minimal invasive procedure that helps in minimal postoperative pain, faster recovery and early mobilisation. With arthroscopy, procedure can be done without a large incision. It is used for diagnosing and treating joint problems(Knee, Shoulder, Ankle, Elbow, Hip Joints). Here the surgeon inserts a narrow tube through a small insertion of the size of a button hole that is connected to a fiber-optic video camera. This instrument has a small lens and lighting system that helps to give a clear picture of the joint. Here the light is transmitted through the fiber optics through the end of the arthroscope. The surgeon will be able to view the interior of the joint with the help of the miniature television that is attached to the arthroscope. It is used as a diagnostic or corrective procedure for ligament injuries, meniscus injuries, cartilage damage, rotator cuff tear, bankart’s tear.
